Requirements
- A pan that won't stick (non-stick pans (like teflon), a marinated cast iron pan, whatever)
Ingredients
- 1 liter of water
- 200 grams of rice
- 20 grams of oil
- 1-2 garlic heads
- 200 grams (to taste) of ham cubes
- Pepper
- Cayenne powder (spicy)
Steps
- Cook the rice with the oil and with salt to taste
- Put the rice in a strainer, preferably a plastic strainer with enough room for the rice to breath
- Leave the rice to dry for a minimum of 20 minutes, I recommend about 2 hours
- Preheat the pan
- Add oil and some sliced garlic and the heat on medium
- Once the garlic is a bit crispy add the ham cubes and cook at a lower heat (you may add something a bit fattier if you want a more juicy rice)
- When the ham cubes have been in the pan for about 5-10 minutes add the rice
- Add the pepper and cayenne powder, I recommend 2 parts pepper to 1 part cayenne
- Stir till you get an even distribution of rice and ham cubes and sauce
- Put the pan in the lowest heat level and leave without stirring from about 5-30 minutes (depending on how crispy you want the bottom to be), I recommend 15 minutes
- Serve warm
